Ministries

We have a full variety of ministries on offer here at Christ The Messiah Church.

There really is something for everyone to participate in and we encourage you to get involved and be encouraged!

Youth Fellowship

This Ministry is founded on the scripture which says “train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22: 6).

This ministry aims to prepare our youth as their awareness of the world increases, and in a time when they are more susceptible to peer pressure and the wrong kind of influence.

We aim to teach them the principles of the bible, and encourage them to form their thinking around the word of God. There are also planned activities and outings to suit the various age groups, and to encourage them to fellowship with others.

This ministry is divided into different age groups to meet their different developmental needs.

– 13yrs- 16yrs (Teens groups)

– 17yrs -20yrs (Young Adults)

However, this department is yet to take off because we are still praying for God to add youths to the church.

Evangelism

The Evangelism Department has been set up as a means to reach out to our community. It is a direct response to the instructions of the Lord Jesus Christ that we should go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).

Most people go through life, searching for peace, love and happiness without knowing how to go about it and end up failing in their quest because real peace and true love only come from God. For this reason and because of the Commission of the Lord Jesus to share the Gospel, we aim to approach  every person in our community to tell them that there is hope and life in our Saviour, all it takes is for people to individually accept Christ as their Saviour and renounce sin and surrender to His will.

Surrendering to Christ does not mean losing one’s self, rather it means that one gains life eternally – life reserved in Heaven for those who accept  the salvation story – which is that God loves the world and gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

As a church, we acknowledge the grace of the Lord upon us and are aware of our primary mission which is to see people saved. We also aim to reach out to our communities in a caring and compassionate way, telling them of God’s unfailing love – Jesus’ love is unconditional and unending! All Jesus wants is to have a relationship with us. Therefore, all that matters is to have a relationship with Him, and not religion. We do this by visiting people in their homes, speaking to people on the streets, engaging the youth through indoor / outdoor activities and finally by organising various outreach events.

Our prayer is that God will help us reach out to more people who will receive the Gospel and live a life to the glory of the Master – a life without fear, a life with no more tears, a life of joy, peace and praise to the Almighty God. Amen

Choir

Psalm 33:2 “Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.”

God created us to worship Him. Understanding of who He is, and what He has done for us, should motivate us to worship and praise Him. The bible says: “From our lips God has ordered praise” (Psalm 8:2a). In worship, we revere God; adoring Him for who He is, His sovereignty and His Majesty.

True praise and worship move the heart of God and release the Glory and Power of God from Heaven.

Our Praise and Worship demonstrate our love to our Maker. Because God dwells in us, He inspires us, at Christ the Messiah Church, to worship Him in a joyful and vibrant way. Such worship lifts up the congregation whenever we come before Him. That is why the Music Department is fundamental to our Praise & Worship service as we long to see God’s Power and Glory manifested daily in the lives of His children.

The Music Ministry is for people who not only have the talent for singing/playing instruments but for people who also have a passion for it, knowing that the ministry is not about individuals but about reaching out to bring joy into broken-hearts and to lift up people who are downcasted and in despair. It is about singing praises to the God of all creation, it is about bringing a divinely inspired atmosphere into the church during praise and worship service. It is about leading the people of God into His presence with Praise.

Ushering

The Ushering Department is a Help Ministry. It is the ministry overseeing the smooth running of the Praise and Worship service and also that of other church programs.

Ushers are expected to be:
  • Alert
  • Vigilant
  • Friendly
  • Approachable

They are always the first contact with the congregation to Worship services.

They are expected to be:
  • Maturing Christians
  • Spirit filled
  • Teachable
  • Committed
  • Faithful
  • Temperate and above all Loving
Other duties include:
  • Checking noise occurring within and outside the church that interferes with the service and solemn atmosphere.
  • Monitoring of time allocated for sermon and signifying with appropriate time signs.
  • Maintaining eye contact (and communicating if necessary) with the pastoral team and other team leaders during church service and other meetings.
  • Ushers should be stationed at strategic locations within the church or meeting premises in order to be able to respond fast to potential disruption during service.
  • Putting up of all necessary signs at designated locations in order to appropriately direct visitors to the church.
  • Collecting the offering (Not to be in a hurry, if a person is yet to get his/her offering ready, be nice and say with a smile “I will come back to you).
  • Helping in the arrangement and the clearing/cleaning of the church hall/venue, prayer room and Pastor’s office.
  • Becoming an usher is very rewarding as you get the opportunity to demonstrate the love and care of God to others in service to the King of Kings. May God bless you as you join the ushering department.

Welfare & Hospitality

Welfare

The Bible teaches us about caring for widows, the elderly and our brothers and sisters in general. It is the responsibility of all of God’s children to care for those who are in need. The welfare department’s focus is to fulfil this requirement by giving support to those who are in need, whether it is financial support, visiting people in their homes to give them an encouraging word or by counselling or mentoring them. In this department we take it very seriously that we are indeed our brothers’ keeper. So come and help us share God’s love.

Hospitality and Protocol

Our Hospitality and Protocol team are responsible for welcoming and entertaining new guests and guest speakers; they answer questions and provide general information about the church.

PA & Audio

The PA and Audio Department provides all media solutions and technical supports for the smooth operation of the service every Sunday and each time the church meet for any occasion.

The department consists of a team leader and workers that work as a unit to produce a godly inspired quality support for the church services and activities. We are responsible for the operation and maintenance of all media equipment such as: speakers, mixer desk, microphones and also other media systems such as I.T.equipment and projector.

Our program scheudule normally starts on saturday, and involves setting up the P.A. system, and running a sound check with the choir. The whole Saturday activities normally take about 2 hours approximately. The day’s activities usually close with prayer dedicating our self and the equipment on to God for service on sunday.

Anyone can work in the audio department; you don’t need any previous experience with any electronics or media equipment, all you need is a willing heart and dedication, and you will do great. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge in electronics, media production and I.T. You will experience warm friendly team bonding and fellowship, and you will have the chance to demonstrate your love for the Lord through the use of your gift and talent in the PA and Audio department.

In terms of socilaising, we aim to meet on average once a month for a relaxing time to fellowship together. At times we go to the cinema or meet at each others houses or even with other departments to fellowship.

May the Lord bless and keep you and reward your love of service for Him as you join the PA and Audio department in Jesus Name, Amen!

Children’s Church

Our children’s church is for children from age 12 months to 12 years. The main service does not normally cater for the children but the children church does. Here, the younger children typically from age 12 months to 5 years spend some time playing together and with toys. We also spend some time reading bible stories to them and teach them inspiring gospel songs and rhymes. When necessary, they take a nap.

For the older children, typically 6 to 12 years of age, we focus mainly on expanding on the word they learned when they were younger and introduce them to new areas of the word so as they grow they are building on a solid foundation.

Here at Christ The Messiah Church, we believe that these are crucial stages in a child’s life like the scripture says in Proverbs 22:6 ‘Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.’ So bring your children along to our friendly Sunday school.

Prayer & Intercessory

Members of this department set aside time to pray together, taking all issues and burdens to God in prayer. They pray and intercede for the church, the singles, single mothers, marriages and all the departments in the church.

The prayer band encourages everyone in the church to pray together for issues they may be facing personally and issues that are present in our society.

The bible says in Ephesians 6:17-18 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…”

Come and join our prayer band; all are welcome.
